I love the Cigna “Mind and Body” campaign.  I’m sure you’ve probably seen it.  Cigna is now promoting not only physical health, but also mental and emotional health.

I have to say I was a little surprised to see that a major insurance company was promoting physical and mental health cohesively.  For as long as I can remember physical and mental health were never considered to go hand in hand.

They were always on opposite sides of the spectrum never to meet.  Though I was surprised I was also happy.

Let’s face it, we all live very hectic lives trying to get as much done as we can cram into a day.  We don’t get proper rest.

We usually don’t eat as healthy as we should.  And, we don’t get the proper amount of exercise. We’re constantly trying to beat the clock to meet professional and personal deadlines.

All of these things combined not only affect our physical health, but also our mental health.

As our bodies get taxed and worn out so do our minds and emotions.  Unfortunately, it leads to anxiety, depression and many other types of mental issues.

If we’re not careful we can find ourselves spiraling out of control.

How we feel mentally affects our mental health and vice versa.

As we move into the Christmas holiday season, it can be overly burdensome for some people dealing with the stress of life, feeling lonely or burdened down.

If you or someone you know is struggling to find balance mentally or physically, don’t be afraid or ashamed to seek help.

I know that for me personally, it’s just nice to have someone to talk to who is sympathetic to my feelings or who understands what I might be going through at the time.

I’m sure if more people just had someone who were genuinely concerned about them, life would be a little more bearable.

Many people aren’t necessarily looking for someone to solve their problems as much as they are looking for someone to listen and say it’s going to be all right.

I found some helpful information on the Cigna site to help promote physical and mental wellness.  I thought I’d share the site with you.

They even have some free podcast on the site as well.   I hope you find value in this information.

Take care of yourself.  Encourage someone you know to do the same.
