Gosh, I hate sitting in waiting rooms especially when I’ve done my part to get there early or on time.  Have you noticed that many waiting rooms have a T.V. to watch and tons of magazines to read?

Have you ever wondered why that is?  It’s because they want to keep you busy while you wait so that the wait doesn’t seem as long.

You’ve prayed and asked God for something.  His answer was yes, but not right now.  At the time, it seems like a fair answer until you’ve now been waiting for months or even years!

You’re now in God’s waiting room.  What do you do while you’re there?  I mean let’s face it, nobody likes to wait especially if you have to wait a long time.  Usually, God’s timing is not our timing.

We like to think we know more than God.  So, we leave the waiting room and take things into our own hands only to make mistakes from which we need to be delivered.  And, God in his graciousness comes to get us out of the mess that we’ve gotten ourselves into yet again.

The waiting room can be tough.  We get frustrated.  We get angry.  We cry and sometimes we give up.

So, what do we do while in God’s waiting room?

  1. Learn to Trust God – What God wants from us while in the waiting room is to trust him.  Often times we trust him in one area of our lives, but not in another area.
  2. God’s Timing is Best – While you’re in the waiting room, save yourself a lot of stress by admitting to yourself God’s timing is ALWAYS best. If you’re trying to get what you want within your own power and you feel anxious, you don’t trust God and you don’t believe his timing is best.  I promise you once you do this you will feel so much peace, peace beyond understanding.  You’ll ask yourself why you’ve been fighting with God all this time.
  3. Thank God for what he’s already done! – Stop focusing on the one thing or maybe even a few things you don’t have and thank God for what you do have. There is always someone who has a worse situation than you.  When I find myself being ungrateful I start to thank God for a roof over my head, food in my refrigerator, clothes on my back, keeping me in my right mind, the use of all my limbs and facilities!  Despite what we go through or what we face – God IS GOOD AND HAS BEEN GOOD TO US!
  4. Work – While you’re in the waiting room, continue to work on whatever God has called you to work. I heard somebody say the last thing God told you to do is the very thing he expects you to be actively doing until it is complete.  If you stay focused on God’s agenda, it will make the waiting seem less lengthy.  It’s the same concept as a physical waiting room.

In closing I will just say, don’t leave the waiting room.  I personally know it’s difficult and frustrating.  But waiting is part of the process.  There is purpose in the waiting room.

It’s not the destination.  But it’s the journey that prepares and equips us FOR the destination.

The reality is that many of the things we ask God for if he gave them to us right away would destroy us.  So, don’t give up on the process.

Isaiah 40:31 AMP

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired.

I hope you have a Great Week!
